Today begins my official focused dive into a new creative project. I took a couple weeks to really reflect, prep, and organize.
For now, I’ve decided to organically reveal content for what I have temporarily code-named “Project Echo” as I work towards its completion.
This process reveal will be a new approach for me. I typically have minimal public discussion about a project until it’s about to release or soon to be published. Certainly not in the initial phases, and that’s sort of why I’m choosing to change things up this time around.
For now, I’ll just say this has been a long-time ‘bucket list’ project for me. ‘Project Echo’ is the development of a cerebral fantasy adventure video game styled as a retro-pixel JRPG.
My goal with this project isn’t to create retro-clone game.
Rather it’s to create an engaging experience rooted in deeply personal motifs that unfolds via a story based in a fantasy world I’ve been structuring for decades. Then presenting that via a nostalgic medium that calls back to my youth.
In recent months, I pondered presenting this story as another TTRPG hardcover to pitch to publishers, but ultimately I felt too protective of the core concepts. It’s a tale I think deserves to be utilized to fulfill a personal creative goal that’s lingered since childhood.
‘Project Echo’ is very much a project I’m creating for myself, but I hope you all will find the journey interesting and worthwhile as well. I intend to do frequent posts about progress, but I’ll roll with however the pacing resolves.
Be inspired and stay creative!
