I’ve decided for ‘Project Echo’ to utilize RPG Maker MZ as the foundation for the game. It has a lot of core framework in place while allowing me to entirely customize the engine, is based in JavaScript (which I’m abundantly familiar with), and allows for what I think will be the easiest multi-platform release method. I also like the concise nature of the GUI RPGm offers for world-building.
Since the bulk of the game world design is decided, the story written and broken into subsequent chapters, and most of the important dialog trees I’ve already written, diving into customizing an environment seems like a good starting point.
My goal over the next couple weeks will be to build out the engine that runs the game world.
As a side note, I’ve already started transcribing some of the music I’ve been writing for the game in FamiStudio which has been a relatively soft learning curve moving over from BeepBox.
